Markup Calculator
Markup equals selling price minus cost, divided by cost, multiplied by 100. Buying at 80 and selling at 100 gives a 25% markup, while the margin is 20%.
Formula & method
Markup (%) = (selling price − cost) ÷ cost × 100.Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Unit cost | 80 ¤ |
| Selling price | 100 ¤ |
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Price less included cost | 20 ¤ |
| Markup on cost | 25 % |

Assumptions & limits
Use comparable prices with consistent tax treatment. A markup does not automatically cover selling fees or overhead. Selling below included cost produces a negative result rather than an error; a zero cost makes markup undefined.

Use the same currency and reporting period for every monetary input. This tool does not fetch prices, exchange rates or account data.
