Compression Savings Calculator
Space saving is original bytes minus compressed bytes. Saving percentage divides that difference by the original size; compression ratio divides original size by compressed size.
Formula & method
Saving (%) = (original − compressed) ÷ original × 100; ratio = original ÷ compressed.Worked example
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Original payload size | 100,000 B |
| Compressed payload size | 30,000 B |
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Payload bytes saved | 70,000 B |
| Reduction from original | 70 % |
| Original-to-compressed ratio | 3.333333333 × |
Compare scenarios
The first input changes while the other example inputs stay fixed. These are arithmetic scenarios, not forecasts.
| Compare scenarios | Original payload size B | Payload bytes saved | Reduction from original | Original-to-compressed ratio |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| −20% | 80,000 | 50,000 B | 62.5 % | 2.666666667 × |
| Example | 100,000 | 70,000 B | 70 % | 3.333333333 × |
| +20% | 120,000 | 90,000 B | 75 % | 4 × |
Assumptions & limits
Compare the same content before and after compression. A negative saving is valid when the compressed representation is larger. This does not include CPU cost, transfer headers or whether the recipient supports the chosen encoding.
Displayed results are rounded. Calculations use unrounded JavaScript numbers; small floating-point differences are possible.
Works in your browser
The interactive tool runs in a sandbox with network access blocked. ClearByte and the advertising scripts cannot read values inside it. Browser extensions and a compromised device remain outside this protection.

Request Transfer Volume Calculator
Estimated transfer bytes equal request count multiplied by average response size. Two million responses averaging 20 decimal KB contain 40 GB of payload.
Cache Origin Savings Calculator
Expected origin requests equal total requests multiplied by one minus the cache-hit fraction. At 80% hits, 100,000 requests leave 20,000 expected origin fetches.
Data Storage Converter
Convert a decimal GB amount into bytes and decimal or binary storage units. One GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes; one GiB is 1,073,741,824 bytes.
Page View Revenue Calculator
Page views equal visits multiplied by pages per visit. Estimated revenue equals those page views divided by 1,000, multiplied by page RPM.
